Poilievre criticizes feds’ handling of ‘218%’ extortion increase, details Conservative plan to combat issue

Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre held a press conference in Surrey, B.C., on Friday, detailing the state of extortion-related crimes across Canada. The Opposition leader condemned Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s handling of the issue, claiming there was not only a “386 per cent” uptick in B.C. alone, but a “218 per cent” increase nationwide. Poilievre went on to share his party’s plan to combat the issue.
