The rural municipality of Ste. Anne in Manitoba has adopted a bylaw that would see those who abandon their animals, such as leaving them behind in an empty home or dropping them off on the side of the road, fined $1,000 per incident in a way to deter such an act. As Global’s Sean Previl reports, a Ste. Anne councillor would love to see it replicated across Canada and animal aid organizations say it’s another way to protect our furry friends.
