Federal government delays MAiD for mental health until 2027

Canada’s Health Minister announced Thursday that the federal government has delayed the expansion of medical assistance in dying (MAID) to people whose sole underlying condition is mental health until 2027. Holland said he made the decision after hearing from provinces and organizations like the Canadian Mental Health Association that more time was needed to implement the change.
