The deadline for hundreds of thousands of businesses who received federal pandemic loans to pay the money back has arrived. Up to a third of the Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) loans could be forgiven if the outstanding amount is repaid by Jan. 18. If business owners can’t do that, their debt will convert into a three-year loan at five per cent annual interest. Nivrita Ganguly has this story.
