The heads of three United Nations (UN) agencies warn Gaza will suffer widespread famine and disease if the population does not urgently receive more aid.
The UN chiefs say aid delivery is hobbled by too few border crossing openings, a slow vetting process for trucks and goods going into Gaza and continuing fighting throughout the territory — factors which Israel plays a deciding factor in. Authorities in the Hamas-run enclave reported the death toll in the Israel-Hamas conflict had surpassed 24,000 on Monday. Global’s Katherine Ward has this story.
