At a press conference Monday, animal lawyer and educator Dr. Victoria Shroff outlines the changes to B.C.’s family law and how it deals with separation and divorce proceedings. She said family pets will no longer be given the same importance as a toaster, for example, and it will take into account if a pet has bonded with a family member or if someone cannot properly care for a family pet.
