Quebec has officially given Swedish battery giant Northvolt the green light to begin work on a new $7-billion production facility south of Montreal. They’ll cut down thousands of trees on the abandoned site that contains habitats for birds and turtles among other creatures. And though the company says it is doing everything to protect and restore the environments it destroys, there is growing skepticism in the air. Global’s Dan Spector reports.
