A Japan Coast Guard plane collided with a Japan Airlines jet at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport on Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of five of the six Coast Guard crew members onboard.
According to Tetsuo Saito, Japan’s Minister of Transport and Tourism, 379 passengers and crew of the Japan Airlines plane survived the incident, despite the aircraft catching fire. The captain of the Coast Guard aircraft sustained injuries in the collision.
