As New Year’s Eve approaches, German police, environmental groups, and health authorities are calling for a ban on fireworks due to concerns over their inappropriate and careless use, as well as air pollution caused by the explosives. Despite the calls for a ban, fireworks enthusiasts in Grevenbroich, North Rhine-Westphalia, were treated to a dazzling display of fireworks and lasers as a retailer launched the sale of fireworks at midnight.
