Responding to a question about the Immigration and Refugee Board’s removal of two Iranian officials, Minister of National Defence Bill Blair said that despite background checks for people coming into Canada, it was “entirely appropriate” to remove individuals if new information becomes available. Blair also assured the Iranian-Canadian community that the federal government remains “absolutely committed” to keeping out those with ties to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
