Peterborough hosts vigil on National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

Residents gathered at City Hall in Peterborough, Ont., on Wednesday to mark the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

According to Statistics Canada, two in five women have experienced some form of intimate partner violence in their lifetime.
Last week, Peterborough city council approved a motion to declare intimate partner violence an epidemic.
The Peterborough Domestic Abuse Network is holding an event Thursday afternoon at Market Hall for survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault to share their experiences. It runs from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
