Canada has launched a deportation case against a man who is believed to have served as a senior official in the Iranian government. His is one of nine cases heading to court, testing new sanctions that banned high-ranking members of Iran’s hardline regime from Canada. The sanctions were brought in following Iran’s brutal crackdown on dissidents after the death of Mahsa Amini in police custody. Jeff Semple reports.
