An off-duty officer was stabbed in the wrist while attempting to intervene in a daytime theft at a store in Toronto’s east end Wednesday morning, Toronto Police Insp. Chris McCann said Wednesday. Toronto police said it happened at around 11:45 a.m. in the area of Progress Avenue and the ramp from Highway 401 East, near Brimley Road. The officer suffered serious injuries.
