Conservative House leader Andrew Scheer raised a question of privilege in Ottawa on Monday, after House of Commons Speaker Greg Fergus apologized for a video message he recorded to thank the departing interim Ontario Liberal leader, which was played at the provincial party’s leadership convention on the weekend. NDP MP Peter Julian said he was “dismayed” by the video, while Scheer said that the position of the speaker was “undermined” and supported the Bloc Québécois’ call for Fergus to resign.
