Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland said Tuesday while delivering the fall economic update that it would “unlock billions of dollars” in financing to support the construction of new homes across Canada. She listed a suite of measures intended to facilitate the building of new housing, including cutting red tape preventing construction workers from moving between provinces and cracking down on short-term rentals.
