Former first lady Rosalynn Carter dead at age 96

Rosalynn Carter, humanitarian and wife of former U.S. president Jimmy Carter, died at the age of 96 on Sunday, according to the Carter Center. The statement announcing her death said she “died peacefully, with family by her side” at her home in the rural south Georgia community of Plains.
