Speaking in Toronto, Ont., on Friday, Immigration Minister Marc Miller expressed his condolences after the death of an asylum claimant at an encampment outside of a Mississauga shelter prompted municipal leaders to call on the federal government for support. “No person coming to Canada expects or deserves this fate,” Miller said. “Everyone deserves the most basic right of having a safe place to rest.”
