Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante released the 2024 budget on Wednesday, with many opposition councillors, suburban mayors and the business community complaining that city spending and property taxes are too high. But as Global’s Tim Sargeant reports, the mayor defended the budget, saying the increases are modest and spending is responsible.
