Canada’s Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Youth of Canada Marci Ien announced on Monday that the federal government was providing $16 million in expanded funding as part of the Rapid Housing Initiative, towards two projects in Toronto that will build 43 new homes for “vulnerable people in the city centre and beyond.” Ien added that the housing will help those with “mental health and addiction issues, and homeless, queer and trans youth.” She added, “this is about giving at-risk people in this city the safety and stability of a home.”
