During Saturday Night Live’s cold open, cast member Pete Davidson addressed the audience in a serious tone over the escalating conflict between Israel and Hamas. He brought up his own father who was killed during the September 11 terrorist attacks when he was seven years old. “Comedy is really the only way through tragedy, my heart is with everyone whose lives have been destroyed this week,” Davidson said.
