EDMONTON- RCMP say a man has turned himself in, after a gas station clerk was shot in the hand and face Wednesday night.
Officers say a man entered the Fas Gas, located in West Park, around 11:20 p.m. He then walked up to the clerk and pulled out a sawed-off shotgun, police said.
When the clerk placed money on the counter, the suspect fired his gun, according to police.
The clerk was taken to Red Deer Regional hospital in serious condition, then airlifted by STARS air ambulance to hospital in Calgary. RCMP say the clerk has undergone multiple surgeries and is recovering in hospital.
RCMP say the suspect left the scene on a bicycle, heading west on Cronquist Drive.
Around 1: 15 p.m. Friday, a man turned himself in to the Blackfalds RCMP Detachment and he was arrested.
RCMP say the investigation is ongoing and charges are pending against the man.
