Voters in the riding of Brandon-Souris have re-elected Conservative incumbent Larry Maguire.
Brandon-Souris has historically been a safe riding for conservative politicians, as it has been held by a centre-right party for all but one term. In 1993, vote-splitting between the Progressive Conservative and Reform parties resulted in a Liberal victory, but the riding reverted to the PCs in 1997.

Brandon-Souris, which includes the City of Brandon, as well as communities like Virden, Souris, and Killarney, is located in Manitoba’s south-west corner, on the province’s western border with Saskatchewan.
History
The riding was originally created in 1952, from the former districts of Brandon and Souris. During the 2012 electoral redistribution, it gained some territory from the Portage-Lisgar riding and lost some to the Dauphin-Swan River-Neepawa riding.
Larry Maguire, who previously spent years as a Progressive Conservative MLA in the area, was re-elected as MP in 2015 with 50 per cent of the vote. He defeated Liberal candidate Jodi Wyman in that election, who had 37 per cent of the vote.
