Police seek suspect after tip jars reported stolen from Barrie business

Police are seeking to identify a suspect after tips were reportedly stolen from a restaurant in Barrie.

Barrie police say at around 3:30 p.m. on Monday, a man entered the Pita Pit located on Park Place Boulevard.

Officers allege the man took two small plastic tip jars meant for the restaurant employees and attempted to steal a Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) donation box before leaving the store.

Police say the suspect was unsuccessful in taking the MADD donation box, but obtained a quantity of cash from the tip jars.

Officers are now searching for a man in his 20s, around six feet tall with a slim build. He was seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, grey hooded sweatshirt, winter hat and dark shoes.

Police say the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call 705-725-7025 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
