The City of Winnipeg is waiting for the next big snowfall before plowing residential streets.
The City is continuing its plowing efforts Tuesday, but Winnipeg is expecting even more snow during the day and overnight.
Michael Cantor, manager of streets maintenance, told 680 CJOB that crews are waiting to plow side streets until the next dump of snow hits.
“At this point, we are not considering plowing the residential streets, as most of them are passable,” said Cantor.
“We’re already plowing the back lanes beginning this morning. It will take three days.
“We’re aware the snow is coming back, and we’ll re-plow as needed. We’re plowing sidewalks as well.”
The city issued a declared snow route parking ban Monday night to allow them to bring out the big tools to help move the snow.
“We’re also treating trouble spots,” said Cantor, “so if we decide that it’s too much and we need to plow the residential streets, we do that.”
