A 75-year-old Innisfil man is facing several charges after an employee at a local coffee shop was allegedly threatened over an error in a food order.
According to South Simcoe police, at approximately 12:30 p.m. on July 6, officers were called to a coffee shop on Innisfil Beach Road after receiving report that someone had allegedly pointed a firearm.
When officers arrived on scene, they were told that a man entered the shop and placed an order. According to police, the clerk misunderstood what the man said and mistakenly inputted the wrong order.
Police say the man indicated he had a gun and threatened the clerk before picking up his purchase and driving off in an unknown direction.
According to police, officers searched for the accused and eventually located him at his residence, where he was placed under arrest.
Officers found that the weapon in question turned out to be a collapsible cane.
Police say the man was charged with uttering threats, assault with a weapon and weapons dangerous.
According to police, the accused was released with a future court date.
