Niagara Falls man charged in connection with alleged sexual assault: police

NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. – Police say they have charged a Niagara Falls, Ont., man after a sexual assault investigation lasting over a year.

Niagara regional police say a 43-year-old woman was allegedly sexually assaulted in the town of Thorold, Ont., near St. Catharines, Ont., on March 4, 2017, after having an “interaction” with a man.

Police allege the suspect also took some of the woman’s personal belongings.

Officers say a 27-year-old man has been charged with sexual assault, robbery, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and two counts of failing to comply with recognizance, all in connection with the March 2017 incident.

He was scheduled to appear in court today.

Police say they believe there may be more alleged victims connected to the case and are encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
