The best thing to stop a bad guy with a gun, is with a good guy with a gun. We’ve heard that comment several times.
Now, in the wake of the Florida school shooting there are suggestions that teachers should be armed and trained for what might be called campus combat.
Some schools are already doing that – starting with Parkland school that saw 17 shot to death. The sheriff says his school deputies will have AR-15s, so they can defeat any threat on campus.
It sounds like the RCMP in Moncton, who found themselves outgunned.
And, Parkland school is not alone.
I just heard from a friend from Idaho, where the Garden Valley School District north of Boise, has just bought rifles and thousands of rounds of ammunition.
Some school staff members will be armed and trained to protect the children.
They worked with police and lawyers on the best way to prepare, since this is a rural area and could take police half hour to get there.
What’s next? Do we start with university and make weapons training part of the Bachelor of Education degree?
