Winnipeg police have arrested a 35-year-old man in connection to several drugs and weapons offences.
Monday afternoon around 1:30 p.m., police received a call about a car that was stuck in a snow bank in south Transcona, just off Copeland Street.
A passer-by saw the car and said the man inside asked for help because he was frozen. After 911 was called, the man inside the vehicle threatened to shoot the passer-by. He tried to reverse the car but failed so he fled on foot.
A short time later, the suspect was arrested a few blocks away near Dugald and Murdock Road.
It turned out the car had been stolen from a convenience store in the 700 block of Corydon Avenue when the owner left it unlocked and running.
A collapsible baton and a revolver-style handgun with a spent round were found in a backpack near the snow bank. Officers also discovered a rifle hidden in an unlocked truck that was parked nearby.
35 year-old Victor Maurice Cobham has been charged with several weapons and drug related offences.
