One year after the election of Donald Trump, the overwhelming majority of his supporters say they’d vote for him to be president again.
A poll conducted by Politico and Morning Consult found that 82 per cent of Trump supporters would back him again if they had a do-over. That’s more support than former Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton would get — 78 per cent of her supporters say they would vote for her once more.

Only seven per cent of Trump supporters said they wouldn’t help make him president. Eight per cent of Clinton voters would choose a different candidate.
However, some voters are unsure if Trump will even complete his first term as president.
Fifty-two per cent of voters think he will remain president until the end of his term in January 2021, while 37 per cent think he’ll exit the White House earlier.

Unsurprisingly, Clinton supporters are more likely to think that he will take a leave early.
The poll also asked respondents whether they think they are better off financially with Trump as president. Just over one quarter of voters, at 26 per cent, said things are better now, and 28 per cent said their financial situation is worse. Forty-one per cent said they are in the same place financially.

The loyalty of Trump’s voters comes as his job approval rating almost continuously sinks. The president’s approval rating saw a brief bump in September, following Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts, but has declined once again.

According to the latest approval rating poll, conducted by CNN between Nov. 2 and Nov. 5, Trump’s approval rating is at 40 per cent — a decline of eight percentage points since April.
Similarly in April, 49 per cent of voters believed Trump was going to bring about positive change in the country. Now, 40 per cent hold that view.

In the CNN poll, completed by 1,021 respondents, 64 per cent also indicated that Trump’s actions and controversial statements since becoming president have made them less confident in his ability to lead the country.
The Politico/Morning Consult poll was conducted between Oct.26-30, 2017, by 1,990 registered U.S. voters. The poll is considered accurate plus or minus two percentage points.
