Don’t post photos of woman’s torso found in Lake Ontario to social media: Durham police

OSHAWA, Ont. – Police are asking people not to post pictures of a woman’s torso, found earlier this week in Lake Ontario, on social media.

Durham Regional Police say they’re aware such photos have been circulating on various platforms and say they could interfere with their homicide investigation.

They’re also asking anyone with photographic evidence to contact them as soon as possible.

A fisherman found the torso in the water Monday night on the lakefront in Oshawa, Ont.

Investigators say autopsy results were inconclusive regarding the cause of death, but they’re calling the death suspicious and say there is evidence of trauma.

Police say the identity of the of the woman remains unknown, but they are continuing to go through missing person reports from other police services.
