Collision sends 5 to hospital, closing Highway 7 east of Havelock

Five people were injured following a collision between a pickup truck and a group of motorcycles travelling on Highway 7 near the Village of Havelock, Ont., on Saturday afternoon.

Peterborough County OPP say shortly before 1 p.m. a westbound pickup truck crossed the centre line of Highway 7 and collided with three of seven motorcycles riding eastbound near Weller Road.

OPP say five people were taken to hospital with injuries, ranging from serious to life-threatening. No details have been provided on the individuals.

Highway 7, east of Havelock, remains closed for several hours as the OPP’s collision reconstruction team investigate the scene.

The collision happened close to the Havelock Jamboree country music festival, adding to the traffic chaos.
