Police say at 7 p.m. on March 31, 2010, a concerned neighbour called them to check on a woman named Regina Brazil. She had not been seen for a day or so at her apartment in the 4600-block of Evergreen Lane. When police arrived, they found the 62-year-old dead in her home.

There did not appear to be any sign of forced entry and police believe the person or persons responsible for her death were known to her.

Police say Brazil was quite well-known in her apartment complex and the community of Ladner. She enjoyed attending exercise classes at the McKee Recreation Centre; frequently going to the (now-closed) Java Hut in Ladner for coffee and socializing with locals; thrift shopping; and daily socializing within the common area of her apartment complex.

To date, Delta police say they have investigated 400 leads and tips and conducted more than 140 interviews as part of this homicide investigation. It is still an open and active investigation and police say they are still hoping to find whoever is responsible for Brazil’s death.

Even though it has been seven years, the Delta police say they believe someone knows something and may have information that could advance the investigation and bring it to a close. Anyone with information about this homicide is asked to contact Delta police at 604-946-4411; Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or through the Delta police unsolved website.
