Stephen Babij was driving a semi-trailer eastbound around 9:00 a.m. when an oncoming transport truck crossed into his lane. The collision caused one of the trucks to catch fire.

RCMP said two people in the westbound semi were seriously injured.

Babij is being remembered as a caring husband and step-father.

“Steve was happiest when his house was full of people,” reads Babij’s online obituary. “Steve was known as the ‘Hay Guy’ throughout Alberta, B.C. and Washington. [He was] never on time, but always delivered. His true passion was farming and he was also an avid snowmobiler.”
