Workers and guests were able to return to the building a short time later.

The investigation is continuing.

There have been similar incidents at Jewish centres across the country and south of the border.

In Toronto, police responded to reports of a threatening phone call made to the Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre on Tuesday. More than 600 people were evacuated from the building as a specialized unit searched the area. The centre was shut down for several hours but police did not find anything suspicious.

In the U.S., there have also been more bomb threats at Jewish community centres and schools. Fourteen threats have been made by phone or email in 10 states in a 24-hour period, bringing the total since January to 135.
