The IIO says Surrey RCMP officers were called to the 12000-block of 100th Avenue at 7 a.m for a report that a woman had been stabbed.

Police report that upon arrival, there was an interaction between an officer and a man with a knife. That man was eventually shot.

He was taken to hospital and is in stable condition; the woman is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

IIO investigators have been deployed to the scene, but Surrey RCMP Major Crime Unit is responsible for any concurrent investigation.
