The City of Kelowna has removed water restrictions to 2,000 homes near the Clifton Road area after work at a major water pump was successfully completed.
Crews were alerted of a leak at the Skyline pump station after noon Tuesday. When they inspected the underground site, they found water had flooded the pump, causing a short.
Water restrictions were in place for about four hours until City of Kelowna crews working with Fortis BC managed to repair the pump near 9 p.m.
The City feared without restrictions, the reservoirs would have depleted as crews originally didn’t know if the pump would be easy to fix.
Water to Clifton Road, High Pointe, Magic Estates and Wilden neighbourhoods are back to normal.
