Advanced polls opened Sunday for four Quebec byelections in the ridings of Arthabaska, Marie-Victorin, Saint-Jérôme and Verdun.
The riding of Saint-Jérôme has stood empty since former Parti Québécois leader, Pierre-Karl Péladeau, resigned in May.

The Quebec Liberal Party currently holds 69 of the 125 seats in the National Assembly.
The Parti Québécois (PQ) forms the official opposition with 28 seats, with the Coalition Avenir Québec close behind at 20.

The byelections will be Jean-Francois Lisée’s first test since becoming head of the PQ in October.
Advanced polls close at 8 p.m. Sunday and reopen Monday at 9:30 a.m. for a second day of advanced voting.
Polls will be open Dec.5 for the final vote.
