Police charge man armed with ‘revolver-style pistol’ on Lethbridge city bus

A man carrying a handgun on a Lethbridge city bus was taken into custody Thursday night and two starter pistols were taken from him, police said Friday.

Officers received the report at about 6:30 p.m. and found the bus parked in the 500 block of 4 Avenue South.

“Police observed the male sitting in the rear of the bus holding what appeared to be a revolver-style pistol,” police said in a Friday statement.

Police confronted the man and took him into custody. The two pistols were only “capable of firing blanks,” according to police.

Victor Running Rabbit, 30, was charged with “numerous Criminal Code offences” and remanded for a bail hearing set for Nov. 30.

No one was injured in the incident.
