Vancouver police are calling it a mystery and appealing to the public for help after a severely injured 80-year-old man was found in Stanley Park.
Just after 2 a.m. on Nov. 16, police were called to the parking lot north of the Brockton Oval where they found the Vancouver man behind the wheel of his 2011 grey Toyota Corolla.
The 80-year-old was suffering from serious injuries and subsequently was rushed to hospital, where he remains in serious condition.
VPD spokesperson Cst. Jason Doucette said police are trying to piece together how the man got there and if the injuries happened in Stanley Park or somewhere else. The car was not parked “recklessly” in Stanley Park.
Police have tried to speak to the man but due to his injuries they are unable to get answers.
Investigators have been in contact with a member of the man’s family and are continuing their investigation but are now asking for the public’s assistance.
Doucette said even the smallest tip could help them find out what happened to this man.
Anyone in Stanley Park during the early morning hours on Nov. 16, who saw the Toyota Corolla or who has information about what may have happened, is asked to contact the Vancouver Police Major Crime Section or Crime Stoppers.
