Calgary Stampeders’ Bo Levi Mitchell wins community service award

Calgary Stampeders quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell has won the team’s Herm Harrison Memorial Award for the second straight year.

Mitchell, who is also the Stampeders’ candidate for the CFL’s most outstanding player award, led Calgary to a 15-2-1 record this season. He has a 16-game regular-season unbeaten streak and 14-game winning streak intact heading into next year. Both streaks are CFL records.

He led the CFL regular-season with 32 touchdowns passes and was second with 5,385 passing yards.

“I’m very honoured to receive the Herm Harrison Memorial Award,” said Mitchell, a Texas native who lives in Calgary full-time.

“My wife Madison and I will continue to strive to be role models to all children throughout Canada and make a positive impact in the Calgary community.”

The award is awarded to a player who distinguishes himself in the field of community service. Mitchell is involved in numerous charitable causes in Calgary and Southern Alberta and launched Mitchell’s Miracle Day in 2015.

Calgary hosts the CFL West Division final on Nov. 20.
