A young family was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in Surrey Thursday evening.
The collision took place at 8:30 p.m. on the 2700 block of 160th Street. Surrey RCMP said a mother, father, and three-year-old child were hit by a car while crossing the road mid-block.
All three people were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The driver, a 46-year-old Surrey resident, stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.
Authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
RCMP are taking the opportunity to remind drivers and pedestrians that longer nights and low visibility in fall and winter months mean all street users need to be extra vigilant while out on the roads.
Pedestrians should always cross in well-lit crosswalks and not in the middle of blocks. As well, both pedestrians and drivers should try to make eye contact with each other to ensure they have been seen.
RCMP also add pedestrians are most visible when wearing reflective or bright clothing, especially at night.
