Montreal police have arrested two men in connection with a stabbing which occurred outside a gas station early Sunday morning.

Police were called the gas station at the corner of St-Laurent Boulevard and Sherbrooke Street at 3:40 a.m.

According to Benoit Boiselle, with Montreal police, the incident began inside the gas station between a group of five or six people.

They were asked to leave the premises and took their argument outside. That’s when police said the assault happened.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a  26-year-old man with stab wounds to to the upper body.

He was taken to hospital with what police described as “major injuries,” but his life is not in danger.

Boiselle said officers on site were able to arrest a suspect after a witness came forward.

The 22-year-old man is being detained and is expected to meet with investigators later in the day Sunday. He faces a charge of armed assault.

A second man, 23 years old, was also arrested at the scene and is expected to face charges of assaulting a police officer and obstruction of justice.

The investigation continues.
