A resident of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue is worried over what she terms an accident waiting to happen along her street.
“It’s not a matter of if, but when,” Janice Bao, who lives on St-Pierre Street, said. Her driveway lies south of the library parking lot.
Originally a pedestrian crosswalk went in front of her driveway, meaning the possibility for her to back into pedestrians was lessened, she said.
What has her concerned now is that the crosswalk is being moved behind her driveway, creating a risk of her backing into people.
Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue officials said the changes were made to ensure a nearby grocery would have enough parking.
Mayor Paola Hawa noted the $200,000-construction project was also being done to improve pedestrian safety.
Hawa said the road was being narrowed with the intended effect of slowing down traffic on the street.
