RCMP release description of vehicles possibly linked to Daverico Downey homicide

RCMP are asking the public for help to identify two vehicles seen fleeing from the scene of a fatal shooting in North Preston in April.

23-year-old Daverico Downey was found dead on a pathway on Downey Road by police, shortly after shots were fired on April 23. Police later confirmed it was a homicide.

RCMP now say they have information that two vehicles were seen fleeing North Preston shortly after the gunshots were fired. They say a white car was seen leaving from the Alex Lane area. The second vehicle of interest is a dark coloured SUV.

Police are asking anyone who saw the vehicles in the early morning hours of April 23 to contact them at 902-490-5333 or by contacting Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers at 1-888-222-TIPS (8477).

Downey was the third victim of gun violence in the span of about a week in April.

At the time, Halifax Police said there were possible connections between the deaths of Downey, Tyler Richards, found dead inside a home on Cook Avenue on April 17 and Naricho Clayton, who was fatally shot on Gottingen Street two days later.

There have been no arrests in any of the three shootings.
