Ontario party leaders to attend opening of International Plowing Match in Minto

MINTO, Ont. – The province’s political leaders make their annual pilgrimage today to the opening of the International Plowing Match, which is being held in Minto, Ont., this year.

Premier Kathleen Wynne, Progressive Conservative Leader Patrick Brown, NDP Leader Andrea Horwath and a large number of MPPs are expected to attend the multi-day agricultural event.

Two days of sitting in the legislature were cancelled so all members could attend.

Today’s events start off with a parade, followed by speeches from the party leaders.

After the leaders’ speeches, during which they generally heap praise on the province’s agricultural sector, it’s traditional that they take turns on tractors plowing furrows.
