Man leads police in UK on dangerous high-speed chase during rush hour – Sep 12, 2016

A British man received a jail sentence of 15 months after engaging in a 50-minute pursuit with the Sussex police on Feb. 22.

The Chichester Crown Court sentenced Bruce Dewey last month after he pleaded guilty to “dangerous driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving without third party insurance,” the Sussex police said in a statement on their website.

Video released by the Sussex police department shows Dewey dodging stop sticks deployed on the road and swerving dangerously in and out of traffic.

The 36-year-old labourer was also “disqualified from driving for three years with a requirement to take an extended retest and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £100 (C$174)”, the police said.

Three police cars were damaged during the pursuit, including two when the police finally managed to stop Dewey on the motorway in Sompting, West Sussex.
