Toronto police arrest HIV-positive man wanted for sexual assault

A 47-year-old Toronto man accused of having sex with a woman without disclosing he was HIV positive has been arrested for sexual assault and police are concerned there may be more victims.

Police said a 25-year-old woman had unprotected sexual intercourse with the man between Jan. 2011 and June 2012 without knowledge of his medical condition.

Andrew Tiriwangasi was arrested on Aug. 10 and charged with one count each of aggravated sexual assault and sexual assault.

Police are urging anyone who had sex with the accused to seek medical attention and to contact police.

Tiriwangasi is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 23.
