At a press conference held in downtown Montreal, Parti Quebecois leader hopeful, Paul St-Pierre Plamondon, called out the Liberal government for ignoring the recommendations of the Charbonneau commission.

The Charbonneau commission found that corruption in Quebec’s construction sector is widespread.
The commission made 60 recommendations including including protection for whistle blowers, reforms to political donation rules and stiffer penalties for companies and individuals who break the law.

“If I become leader of the Parti Québecois, I will apply every single recommendation of the Charbonneau commission,” Plamondon said.
Rooting out corruption and collusion are common values that he thinks will attract anglophone voters should he win the leadership race.
“I don’t think the core values are different parts of Quebec,” Plamondon siad. “I think everybody in Quebec is fed up with corruption, and my proposition, if I am the leader of the Parti Quebecois, is to provide Quebecers with an honest, competent government in 2018.”
