Albert Muckle, found guilty of sexual assault and attempted murder of a Banff woman over a decade ago will remain behind bars.
Documents obtained by News Talk 770 show his case was reviewed for a third time this week, when the Parole Board denied day parole and full parole.
Muckle attacked a 20-year-old pregnant hotel worker in July 2005, leaving her for dead. A witness found her partially-clothed, bloodied, bruised and unconscious. She was left in a vegetative state long after the attack.
Muckle was given an indeterminate sentence with a dangerous offender designation in 2006.
The board said Muckle has been involved in “numerous documented incidents” particularly aimed at female staff, including threats, throwing things and using contraband substances. The board said it would be too risky to allow him out on parole.
Muckle remains at a “high risk” to re-offend. The board cited a lack of program completion, unabated criminal activity and an unrealistic release plan as main factors in the decision.
