Heading into the homestretch of the summer season, the Kelowna Falcons have just one thing on their minds: a playoff berth.
Coming off a record-breaking Cinderella season in 2015, which saw the baseball club come the closest they’ve ever been to a league title, expectations were high heading into 2016.

But this season didn’t start the way the team had hoped.
“Early on we went through adversity,” said Falcons head coach Bryan Donohue. “We had some tough losses.”
The team finished the first half of the season with 13 wins and 14 losses and sat second last in the north division.
But the back half of the season has been a different story, with the club now in a battle for top spot in their division and poised to clinch a playoff spot.
“We’re going to make a push at this thing,” said second baseman Lane LaCrone, one of the team’s returning players. “I’m pretty excited about it because whenever a team comes together, that’s when they’re the strongest and I think we’re getting to that point.”
Once the current series with the Wenatchee AppleSox wraps up Thursday, the team will have just nine games left in the season.
The best of three series sits at one-and-one, with the Falcons losing their latest game Wednesday 13-1.
